What Are Some Things That Even After Being Daca Approved We Won't Be Able To Do?

Recommended Posts

Obvious ones, can't vote, can't join the military.

Can't apply for government jobs or some city jobs that require U.S. Citizenship.

Some people still won't be able to drive or get an ID.

It's possible to travel outside of the U.S. For example, those who are approved for DACA while under 18, won't accrue Unlawful Presence, therefore they are able to travel using AP without any trouble. It might also be possible for the rest of us, but the rules are still kinda foggy.

Because DACA only grants you a temporary lawful authorization time allowances of years presence, it limits you on what you can do. To start, you are not eligible for any Federal Aid of ANY KIND. You are STILL illegal but with a 2 year lawful presence. You are limited to taking out loans as banks don't want to risk lending out someone with an uncertain future. You cannot travel abroad with out Advance parole and you cannot own a gun. You do not have the same rights USC do so please don't do anything stupid for your sake.

Is not much but its still something better than what you had before

Cheers!!

i dont know of a certain website, but you can look up the DMV websites for AZ, NE and MS.

the DLs will vary by state. some will only issue a DL that is valid for the same length of time that your EAD is valid. and some states, like NC, put "No Legal Status" on the card.

if one already has or had an ITIN number and has established credit, then one can take out a loan from a bank. it might be harder for those just starting off, who do not have any credit.

it could ( slim chance but could) give you money for school. some schools have you fill it out for a few reasons: 1.) to make sure that you are ineligible for federal aid and thus allowing you to have access to either state or school monies. 2.) some small school, will have you fill it out and see what monies MAY be left over after monies are granted to those who are USC or have legal status.

it never hurts to try because there is always a chance. best thing to do is to talk to the financial aid department at the school you are either attending or want to attend and explain your situation and ask what types if aid is available to you.

It does not allow you to do much and you could face federal consequences should you submit one to the federal government. These forms are usually asked by colleges to see if you need help and they do not submit them and are for their own records.

Only LPR and USC and other groups can benefit from it but nor C33

FAFSA applications are sent to the Department of Education and are not sent to the school.. Schools will need a letter from FAFSA stating that the student is not eligible for FAFSA due to their immigration status. Thus allowing the school to award school monies to a student and not federal monies.
