L_R 0 Posted March 9, 2013 DO ANY OF YOU KNOW HOW IS THE PROCESS FOR APPLIYING TO A 4-YR COLLEGE DIFFERENT IF YOU ARE IN THE DEFERRED ACTION THAN IF YOU ARE A LEGAL CITIZEN/RESIDENT?
pswa83 302 Posted March 9, 2013 it would depend on the state that you live in and the school that you are wanting to attend. in CA, one if one attended a CA hs school and graduated from that same high school, then they would qualify for in-state tuition. there is also the CA Dream Act that allows undocumented students to apply for financial aid. there are other states that offer in-state tuition to undocumented students. however, some private colleges will not accept DACA applicants. it would be best to speak to an Admissions Rep at the college you are wanting to attend along with a Financial Aid rep to look into your opinions about what scholarships you can apply for and other options that may be available to you. Rawf 336 Posted March 9, 2013 There's no real difference other than you won't be eligible for federal money. Students residing in California and meet the following requirements are eligible to pay in-state tuition at California colleges and universities. Effective as of October 12, 2001. Requirements Attend a California high school for three or more years Graduate from a California high school or receive a GED from California Provide an affidavit stating the student will apply for legalization once he/she is eligible to do so
