Santi 353 Posted April 2, 2013 Cash is king, and credit is the cornerstone of the modern economy... When applying for a CC, watch that Interest Rate and be aware of the small print...a variable interest rate and a huge balance on your account will eat your cash flow in a minute if the IR turns to the upside, well above the rate you were quoted when you agreed to borrow the funds. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! (buyer beware) Don't spend all your funds on candy and stuff, and make sure you can comfortably cover your CC payments punctually on a monthly basis (if you can pay more than the minimum, even better)... And remember CASH IS KING (Finance 101) - don't tie up your free cash flow in the coverage of financial leverage (credit) after all your expenses are accounted for... You are welcome... BTW - I have had Capital One for a while now. 4 amor, engineer2mike, Wisedevil22 and 1 other reacted to this

Santi 353 Posted April 26, 2013 Since you will be using a new SSN, your best bet is a secured CC with any bank - ask for a credit facility with your current bank, or talk to a personal banker...they may be able to help you out

You will most likely be approved if you've been a client for years.

reyd 10 Posted May 14, 2013 Random question: When someone under DACA applies for credit, do we have to list both last names as it appears on the SSN card and DL? Thanks.
Amber 7 Posted May 14, 2013 Random question: When someone under DACA applies for credit, do we have to list both last names as it appears on the SSN card and DL? Thanks. Do you have an account with bofA? My original account only has my first and last name... And well now my ID has My first, middle name and both of my last names ugh Lol... Well my question is did u change your name on your account? I'm going to the bank today and I was thinking about getting the secured credit card... I saw that u were approved for the rewards credit card. Did u already have credit before applying?

Santi 353 Posted May 14, 2013 Random question: When someone under DACA applies for credit, do we have to list both last names as it appears on the SSN card and DL? Thanks. Not necessarily - I have used my first last name forever. However, I always let the people gathering my information know that there are two last names in my card (and I go through the whole 'both families' last names history - if they were not aware of it) You are not lying to anyone. You are just adapting to the American way of just using only your first last name. However, if you want, you can use both last names hyphenated...as in 'Pepito Perez Martinez' would be 'Pepito Perez-Martinez.' It is up to you, although I suggest you use only one...it will make your life easier in the long run. My 2 cents... 1 reyd reacted to this
sotero_gonzalez 54 Posted May 14, 2013 Guys I applied for discover it and I got approve with a $6,000 credit 0_O Wow, that's a nice credit line. Be careful, don't use it all in one place. 2 Amber and Me15** reacted to this

They left all my accounts with one last name even though my SSN card and my DL has both last names on it. I hope this helps. So I just got back from the bank! I updated my ssn and he changed my name too, well he added the other last name. He said he had to hmmpf anyway... I wasn't approved for the regular credit card so I applied for the secure one and I was approved. https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/products/secured-credit-card.go I paid a $99 deposit fee and was given $500 credit. $39 annual fee eekkk I hate annual fees Lol This card works perfectly for me tho plus I bank with bofA so it seemed convenient. The banker was super nice! he's my age and said he's been getting a lot of ppl who were approved thru DACA. He gave me a TIP.. He said if your balance due is $100 and your payment is due on lets say June 15th. Give $50 payment mid may and then give another $50 payment before June 15th He said that's what he used to build his credit. For those of u still looking into getting a secured cc. This was the other option for me... https://www.usbank.com/credit-cards/secured-card.html Minimum deposit of $300. Your deposit is your credit. Plus they pay you interest on your deposit. $35 annual fee I didn't choose this one bcuz I could get a higher credit line with a smaller deposit at bofA. The paid interest didn't sway me since I'm hoping I don't have to keep a secured cc for that long. $300 seems steep, but you'll get it back plus interest. 2 reyd and Heisenberg2 reacted to this
