Jburgos08 6 Posted March 19, 2013 Its been a while since sent my application and I'm starting to get nervous as more and more time passes. I have been waiting since Nov 23rd, when i took my biometrics. Does anybody know why some people are getting approved a month after their biometrics while I'm approaching my 4th month without any information? pswa83 302 Posted March 19, 2013 honestly, no one, besides USCIS, knows why some people get approved sooner then other while others took months to either get approved or have a RFE sent to them. people have ideas and theories on how or why this happens but all we can do guess. it is important to realize that all cases are different and processed differently and also processed by different people at USCIS. so if 2 people who have the same evidence and submitted their apps on the same, took their bios on the same, will not be approved on the same day. their cases could be, and are, most likely process by 2 different people at USCIS. the wait time starts once USCIS has received your application and evidence, given that it is complete and the correct payment is submitted. since you submitted your application in october, you will reach the 5 month mark this month. until there is an update on your case, there is not much you can do but wait. if you have signed up online for the Status Updates, then in most cases, you will receive a txt or email stating that you case has been updated. if you receive an RFE, at least you know that your case has been looked at and that a decision would be made as soon as you send the RFE back. best thing to do is to keep busy and not check your status online a million times a day. it only drives you crazy. JoseG 383 Posted March 19, 2013 It could be that your application is being held up in the department that does the background checks, or that it's simply just waiting in line to be reviewed.
jjkayslay 15 Posted March 20, 2013 What is the average time for them to finish a background check?
JoseG 383 Posted March 20, 2013 There aren't any official numbers and you can't really estimate how long it takes for the background check to clear since you don't get an update when it does. After the background check, your application then has to wait to be reviewed by an adjudicator.

Gezinha 121 Posted April 17, 2013 Wow it was pretty fast for her huh? I guess it just really depends on who picks up your case, but don't be alarmed, mine took exactly 6 months. Some people here are going on almost 8 months and no answer.

After a long 7 month wait, I received news that i was approved: first for the I-765 then a couple of hours later for I-821D. It happened out of no where. I just had to wait. Don't lose hope guys. nrodri 0 Posted October 26, 2015 Hi, you guys. I applied for the renewal of my Employment Authorization Card last December (2014), attended my biometrics appointment, and waited... I wasn't too worried at first, because as we all know sometimes the wait time can be lengthy. However, after six or seven months, I had a bad feeling and finally called USCIS (something I should have done earlier) only to find out my work permit had been mailed to my home in May!Of course I never received it... and they told me I had no other option, that they knew it wasn't my fault but it wasn't their responsibility either and the only way to replace it was by filing a new application and paying the fee again. It sucked big time. I had to pay everything all over again and begin the process over. I applied for my lost card sometime in August. The last notice I have is one of September 10, 2015. I have been waiting over a month for my biometrics appointment. The last time I called, I was told USCIS may not need my biometrics to be taken again since my case has already been processed once. So now I'm not even sure what I'm waiting for. All I know is my permit was lost in the mail once because I didn't check up on it. I am seriously stressing over this. I can't afford to lose my card again. It is too expensive. It's driving me crazy
pablo 0 Posted October 28, 2015 were you checking your status case online? because they usually update when they approve, create, and sent out your permit. e.g. "On April XX, 2015, the Post Office delivered your new card for Receipt Number SRCXXXXXXXXX" asking because i moved (filled out an address change form, but they still sent my approval notice to my old address)
