Admin 174 Posted April 9, 2013 The Senate’s Gang of Eight is aiming to release comprehensive immigration reform legislation on Thursday, according to Senate sources. A member of the group said the bill is virtually complete and the plan is to roll it out this week, but he warned it could slip into next week. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a leading member of the group, confirmed the members are hoping to unveil the legislation before lawmakers leave town for the weekend. “We’re shooting for that kind of progress,” he said. One of the last questions to be resolved was over how to handle immigrant agricultural workers. The farm industry and unions were split over the issues of wages and visas. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who has taken the lead on negotiating agricultural visas, said Tuesday a tentative deal had been reached. “There’s a tentative agreement on a number of things, and we’re waiting to see if it can get wrapped up,” she told reporters outside the Senate chamber. itzel 336 Posted April 9, 2013 I agree with Pswa83, what'll happen to the ones who were already approved for DACA and the ones still waiting for approvals?
Santi 353 Posted April 9, 2013 As per reports in various TV stations (Telemundo, Univision - among others - and their increased coverage of the CIR bill), the Dreamers - US - will have significant priority. Think of it as a fastpass in Disney - we will be in line, but ours will move relatively faster and will not be as long... 5 Aled, roadrunner11, Calidreamer and 2 others reacted to this
splif0clock 89 Posted April 10, 2013 Lets hope they don't disappoint us this time around again.
roadrunner11 167 Posted April 10, 2013 I cannot wait to hear what they have to say. My family and w everyone's family here deserve a chance. I really hope we can get some kind of priority as dreamers so we can also legalize our parents and siblings. I'm hoping this year we see immigration reform. What makes me nervous is the Obama care health reform coming next year. The new healthcare regulations can lead to more issues for the immigrant community that already struggles to get the basic health care. 1 theaviator360 reacted to this
kayej87 28 Posted April 10, 2013 Even if cir is not past they are gonna still try and past a bill to help us dreamers...
pswa83 302 Posted April 10, 2013 well, so far today, i have heard that farmer workers are set to gain either legal status or citizenship if they have been working illegally for 2 years. again, good thing, yes and no. while these workers are important it still puts them in front of those who are already in line with USCIS. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/senator-tentative-deal-immigration-ag-workers-18915588#.UWWz6LXClDM guess, i'll just have to be "patient" and see what this weeks edition of CIR will entail.
