latinagirl 46 Posted April 13, 2013 Hello guys I got approved on april 3 and i went to the social security office on april 8 as in today I'm still waiting on my social security which i know it takes time I would like to change my last name but since i didn't take the marriage licensed with me then i will have to wait until my social gets here, the lady said i could change my last name once i received my social # and it will be at no cost the lady also said that once i bring the marriage license and the social security she could make the change, my question is those this mean i have to make the change of last name on my permit to work? and somebody told me that for a card replacement would be like almost 500? is that a MOST DO THING? because I'm going to do my driver license once i change my last name on the social. Osha 126 Posted April 13, 2013 I really suggest that you don't change ANYTHING at this point. Wait until you gain legal status to begin the process of changing your name. The whole immigration system will be changed completely if Congress pass CIR this year, which means things will get messy and complicated and the last thing you want especially now is to mess around. Whatever name that is on all of your DACA documents as well as your passport and birth certificate, its the name that you should stay with for now. Thats just my suggestion. 1 Fresita22 reacted to this
