Under Pressure

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who feels immense pressure to get as much done in these next two years? Now that my application has been approved I'm overwhelmed by so many different emotions. I would like to know what you guys aspire to do now that you have been approved :) what is your ultimate goal

Getting approved and finally be able to get a job legally, get a driver's license and be able to pay for your schooling, as well as be an asset to your household. No better feeling than that, to finally be able to change your life.

That being said, I don't think there's reasons for one to feel pressured I say that not knowing your circumstances. After those two years are up, you can renew your permit. Still in the air, there's a great possibility that an immigration reform is going to get approved. Of course having been approved gives you the opportunity to get a job and save money, if you're like me who doesn't yet have a college degree, my goal is to eventually save enough money to pay for schooling. I don't share the same feeling of pressure that you do, I feel like one needs to have a plan to say the least, and certainly prioritize.

dont feel pressured, i wish my approval would come in already, the waiting is where the real pressure is. Like Aled said, you have everything you need to change your life and take control over how things work out. Use that to your full advantage!

Good luck with your job hunt!

Now that Immigration is on the table, I feel that the clock is ticking because I have 2 more years to complete my Bachelor's Degree. I feel pressure as well to finish. I thankful that we DREAMERS are being legalize because I can get a job anywhere I want, and work /build on credit history. I know we all going to be productive citizens, and we won't need any social assistance from the FED. Just try to find something you're good at, and go to school to improve your skills :)

to be able to pay for school and get a better job. i already have an AA and im very close to transferring and ive only been going part time since i cant afford to go full time. thats what im looking forward to with my approval. oh and getting a drivers license, im tired of getting paranoid over those "checkpoints" the police put up everywhere. had some very close calls already. dont feel pressure, it might take a few months to get used to being able to do all the things you can do with the approval.

Each person is different as to how much pressure they want to impose on themselves after getting approved. I personally have very little pressure. I've built a solid career in the last 8 years and I just plan on expanding what I've already accomplished.

The only door that remained locked for me was accepting W-2 jobs in the film industry. Before being approved I could only do 1099 jobs that didn't require me to fill out an I-9. Now that I'm legit I can take on more film jobs, get paid better, possibly join the union, and work on many more types of films/commercials/music videos/photo shoots/etc.

And course finally having a license. I've been driving without one for 11 years, only been pulled over once.

Thanks guys I really appreciate everyone's input.. It's always nice to hear how everyone else thinks. I woke up feeling a little overwhelmed but feeling much better now :)

@ Aled  I've had a steady job for about 3 years now.. It's crazy how much having a job has helped me out! Like u said just knowing that you can contribute and be an asset to the household, it's a wonderful feeling!

I think what I'm most excited about at the moment is getting my license!! I've been driving for a few years and have been pulled over once. The fear and the paranoia at checkpoints that @sotero_gonzalez mentioned uhhh it's the worse so that's something I'm really looking forward to. I'm taking the written exam this Friday, wish me luck :)

@sotero_gonzalez and @engineer2mike what school do you guys plan to transfer to?

As far as education goes I'm in a similar situation as u guys. I have my AA. I had to quit school because I couldn't afforded to transfer. Shortly after that I was very fortunate and found a job. Its certainly not my dream job but it pays the bills and its exactly the kind of job i had been needing. Life is expensive! I have been saving up what I can. My next big purchase will be a car :)  I really hope to go back to school soon

I'm happy to see that some of you don't feel under pressure :) I will learn from you guys and just take things one step at a time. With a plan in mind, let's make these next years count :) good luck to you all especially those of you like @profjouster who are still waiting to be approved!!
