alejandra1982 6 Posted April 26, 2013 I am soo happy! I got my work permit today. Finally after being in this country for 24 years since I was 7 Years old I am now here legal! Just wanted to share the good news with everyone . I don't comment much on here, but I read a lot of y'all posts and to the ones that have not been approved yet, just be patient. Just a little advice- After you get your DACA card, I recommend waiting a few days to apply for your Social Security to give it time for the INS systems to update into the SS system. I went too soon and they were not updated yet and now I have to wait until they manually confirm my status with the INS before they can issue my SS. This will add a couple more weeks for me to get my SS. I went 5 days after I got DACA approved. Apparently there are a lot of delays in getting the SS due to going to apply too soon. How can I fix this? You really have no control over it... Wait for them to update the system and go and get your SSN. Some people here have been able to get print outs and have fared well...
