I dont Have 5 years in the country i Only Have 3 years and 8 month can i still apply for the dream act..?? I do have a highschool diploma I can here before i was 16 I am under 30 years old And i dont have bad records. But i dint have 5 years.. My other question is: The Dream Act is only for this year or imma be able to apply in 2 more years.? Or is only for the 2012.? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JoseG 383 Posted August 23, 2012 This isn't the Dream Act, this is called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. This isn't a law, and it does not provide a path to citizenship nor does it remove someones unlawful status. It simply prevents you from being deported for 2 years and gives you a work permit. One of the requirements is to have lived here in the US for the past 5 years, which is from June 15, 2007 until the date you file. Since you have only been living here for 3 years, you do not qualify for Deferred Action. Since Deferred Action isn't a law, it can be terminated by congress or the president at ANY time. If the program is still active, you can apply for Deferred Action once you reach the 5 year requirement of continuous residence. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
