Tori 38 Posted May 29, 2013 How has your life changed after being approved and gotten all your docs (ead, ssn, dl/id)? Aside from getting my dl/id nothing has drastically changed for me. I've been running two businesses, one since 2005 and one since 2007, so I didn't have to search for a job. All my work comes from referrals. Last week I applied for business licenses and payed back taxes for the businesses - so that's a major milestone for legitimacy. 5 kayej87, erika020, outofmxny and 2 others reacted to this

Rawf 336 Posted June 19, 2013 Everything has changed for me. From ID to Learners Permit to License, was able to open 3 credit card accounts and purchased a car using a loan with extremely low interest. Don't have the job of my dream, but I'm working on it. Being able to work legally is the most amazing thing ever. Getting e-verified and coming up clean and valid is a great feeling. 7 lyssa, erika020, amor and 4 others reacted to this

Tori 38 Posted June 20, 2013 Awesome! Great to hear that y'all are making great strides to starting anew! Since getting my docs in April I've filled out several W-9s with my "new" legal name and legit SSN. Feels so good! @rawf: what credit card companies approved you? My dad suggested I go to Sears and apply for a Sears Mastercard. I'm awaiting to hear back from them, went in last week. I know that B of A (my current back) will allow me to get a credit building card with a $300 deposit, so that's an option.

I have a regular "capital one", a platinum "bank of america", and a "discover it" credit card I wasn't approved at first when I applied for the discover credit card, but if they deny your online request you will be getting a call from them days after to offer you something that you will be approved for. For the capital one, I had to provide proof of work by showing the checks or the paper that is attached on top.

Ces2792 3 Posted July 26, 2013 For me it has changed a lot since I got approved in May. I got my EAD and my approved letters the same day, I got my Ssn and a job a week after. Got my permit and just passed my DL behind the wheel test, so I now have my DL. The only thing that hasn't changed though is going to school I'm not able to pay in state tuition here in VA or get any federal help so I most likely wont be going to school this semester unless I find some scholarships for daca students which I have been looking for and if any of u guys know of any scholarships please let me know. This has truly changed my life I no longer have to be afraid to drive or to be out late.
outofmxny 17 Posted July 26, 2013 Life has definitely improved since my approval in December. I'm working two jobs now and am able to help out more at home in terms of finances. Never knew how much I would appreciate direct deposit and my mother not being so stressed out. This is the most carefree she's been in a long time. I can finally focus on finishing my degree and going to medical school. Before DACA, I had no clue how I was going to finance the rest of my education. Unfortunately, my state has banned undocumented students from the less expensive state schools (great education with a much lower price tag), but I'm not giving up on my double major. 3 stolenlacs, engineer2mike and cheated reacted to this

engineer2mike 36 Posted July 30, 2013 I too appreciate and thankful for DACA because the E-Verify Glass Barrier was shattered to pieces once I got Approved. It feel awesome not worrying about background checks . I will resume College this Fall to complete my Junior & Senior Year in Engineering. I got a Capitol One Credit Card, and i will soon move-in to my own place. It's been the happiest Summer of my life. I hope A lot of prosperity to you Guys, and I hope all your goals are met 2 outofmxny and Theresa reacted to this
Tori 38 Posted August 6, 2013 Last week I got hooked up with a killer credit card from my bank (B of A). Initially when meeting with the banker I had the idea of getting the credit building card and he suggested that I apply for the student credit card instead, even though I'm not a student. I got approved for it! No interest for the first year or yearly fee! I got a $1,000 credit line which is perfect for me since I don't tend to overspend and live within my means, but I tell ya I will be purchasing a new computer for my web design business and writing that expense off on my taxes. I also updated my SSN with the bank. The final step will be to open up a business account through my bank.
