will my tatoo affect me applying for dream act ?

Recommended Posts

I was actually talking to my mom Monday about getting a tattoo and she mentioned she had overheard on the spanish speaking television shows on Univision that having a tattoo could possibly affect ones case when applying for the Deferred Act or the Dream Act. Both require background and biometric checks. This is all word of mouth. I dont have any links to provide. Sorry.

hi guys I'm currently new with this site but i came across this question, my mom mentioned that she had heard something about tattoos possibly being a reason why i could be denied. I really hope this isn't the case, i have 2 tattoos both aren't inappropriate in anyway, i have faith on my wrist and on my right back side the word family with 5 stars around it. personally i think this shouldn't be a reason for someone with a tattoo to be denied the right to this act :( , tattoos are in someway a way to express something we feel or something/someone we love. if anyone has anymore information about this i'd really appreciate it if you can let me know, I'm very anxious to know.. also does our grades thru out high school matter? or is it just important to have your diploma? thnxx! :)

Hello, I personally feel that tattoos especially the ones you've mentioned you have should not pose a problem. There hasn't been any source absolutely anywhere (at least that I'm aware of) that says tattoos will cause your application to be denied. If a person perhaps has ties with gangs and it shows through your tattoos, then perhaps maybe, it could pose as a problem in your biometric check. As long as you have a clean record I would not be worried about the tattoos that you say you have.

Aled (Newbie) is right in everything he said.

However, atlalolini and I both heard from our mothers, word of mouth, nothing written or concise, that tattoos could pose a problem, but I believe only if theyre gang affiliated and as long as your WHOLE body isnt covered in them.

We know we live in a society that likes to judge and make false assumptions.

I hope the people who perform the biometric check arent all high and mighty that theyll disqualify an individual for a few tattoos. If that were the case, there should be an option to re appply.

Welcome Aled and atlalolini to the forum!!!

I agree, its tattoos that are gang related or that the department of homeland security could see as a threat...

I think only if the tattoos are gang affiliated, I dont see why any other tattoo would be a problem. Its a way of one expressing themselves. Im seriously considering after I go in for biometrics, on getting a tattoo. A phoenix bird ;)
