Mercedez 3 Posted June 12, 2013 My friend was approved for docs so she apply for financial aid and was approved. But when she went to the college they told her she can't get in because she don't have her green card. Can they do that.
Heisenberg2 34 Posted June 12, 2013 She got her docs ? You mean like DACA approved ?
TheGame1990 17 Posted June 12, 2013 I don't think they can do that to her. She might have to go in as an interitonal student and just pay more of what a u.s.a stud would pay. Exsample a friend of mine pays $16,000 a year, and a interitonal student would pay $24,000 a year. Your friend might have to look into that and find out why did that happen. Mercedez 3 Posted June 14, 2013 OK thanks. What is the difference between DACA and EAD?
mm22806 12 Posted June 15, 2013 Daca it's a discretion from the government to remove an individual from the country , EAD is the name for the work permit
sotero_gonzalez 54 Posted June 15, 2013 you cant get financial aid unless you are a citizen or a legal resident. if she just has the work permit she can apply for the BOGG scholarship which waives off the tuition fees from whatever college/university you are attending and all you pay for are the books. this new waiver was implemented in the beginning of this year. should try to apply for it before the fall semester.
