Questions About California Drivers License And Id

I have a few questions for those in CA who have been approved for DACA. I went to apply for my SSN and I'm waiting to receive it in the mail. I have an appointment this Wednesay to apply for my ID and take the written test. My question is, for those who already have their ID or DL do you get this for a 2 year period too? Or how long are these valid for?

 

Also, is the written and driving test hard? Thanks for any help you provide me with!!

Based on the CA DMV website, your ID and DL will be valid for the same time that your EAD was issued. This means that the ID and DL will be valid for 2 years.

 

This isn't the case for everyone. Some people, like myself, got a full term, which is a 6 year ID and 5 year DL. It's unknown for sure what causes this, but the general consensus is that this has to do with the way the worker inputs your information into his computer when you go to apply.

Yes what Jose said, it depends on the person who is inputting your info in the system. I got my ID for 6 years and my DL for 5

The written test is not hard if you study. Some people study out of tests from people who took it already, but I recommend reading the whole handbook it wont take you that long it took me like 3 hours to read the whole thing. I also study the tests from other people, but when i took the written test there was only one question that was exactly the same as one of the ones i studied from the tests. But overall it's really easy if you read the handbook The driving test (behind the wheel test) was okay it wasn't that hard, but I guess getting nervous doesn't help! I failed on my first try but passed it on my second try. I guess it also depend the area where you are driving when your doing the test. You should search some videos on youtube, that's what I did and it helped a lot!

_{Unfortunetly I only have a 2 year ID, (I haven't done my driving test yet) I went to the Compton DMV because I heard they were giving 6 year IDs & DL.. but I guess not..}

_{Someone here provided a great website where I practice for my written test..... Driving-test.org...It helped me a lot!& they have all 6 test & some.. and I passed, I already scheduled for my driving}

I have my ID for 5 years..I went to the DMV in San Pedro, so I guess it all depends in the person who is taking care of the process..tomorrow I will be going back to take the written exam

it is up to the person who processes your application not the office in general.

Thank you all for the great advice. I took my behind the wheel test yesterday and passed it. I viewed a lot of videos on youtube to get an idea of what I would be asked to do. I took my written test at the Santa Ana DMV office and missed 7 questions the first time. Since I finished my first test before 4:30 and didn't pass it, they allowed me to take a second one right after and I was able to pass the second one only missing 2. My advise for those who will be going to take the written test is study your handbook. I agree with "erika020" you might be able to look over other people's tests but you'll feel more prepared if you have read the handbook. The wording on the questions can make simple questions confusing.

 

I took my test at the Fullerton DMV office and they only took me to drive in residential areas. It took about 20 minutes, with only right and left turns, stop signs, driving in a straight line in reverse, parallel parking, merging lanes, speed limits, etc. I was nervous but thank God I passed it.
