Gino10 30 Posted August 3, 2013 Hello all dreamers!!! I hope you all are doing well, and keep getting approved. I am looking for some advice. After a long stressful time waiting time for my work permit, I finally got approved. However, I found myself helpless in finding a job. I graduated from college in 2010 in business/finance/ management. I haven't been lucky on my job search. I really don't know where to start. I have tried craigslist, monster, and career builder, applied some jobs and send resume and cover letter with no success.... I have been thinking perhaps reach out some employment service company- an institution that helps individuals finding a job- but I don't know any one.... If anyone here have had this experience before, id appreciate your advice. Please any advice and ideas will be very significant for me..... Thank you all for taking your time reading this desperate post.... Gino
Theresa 63 Posted August 3, 2013 Try to post more resumes than to replying to jobs since companies recieve up to hundreds of enquiries about posted jobs. Don't forget to go in person to register to job agencies. Don't overlook the assistant positions that may lead to something good in the future like experience and promotions and if you see a hiring post that says apply in person or e-mail resume, go in person because maybe they will interview on the spot. Register in LinkedIn and look for employed friends from college (they might refer you or might know about one) I hope you find a job soon! 3 Gino10, engineer2mike and Dreamer3oh3 reacted to this
pswa83 302 Posted August 4, 2013 any important key to job hunting is to follow up on the job applications and resumes that you have sent. call about 2 days after you filled out the application or sent a resume and simply state your name and that you were just touching base on the application you filled out or the resume you dropped off. if you have the time and the places are local, try going in person with a resume and asking to see the manager and introduce yourself and ask if they will take your resume. a lot of the times, filing out a job application online just sends the application into the human resource black hole and not to the individual store you want to work out. so put yourself out there and remember that it is a very competitive job market. it's not only us looking for work but so many others as well. 3 engineer2mike, stolenlacs and Gino10 reacted to this

Dreamer3oh3 40 Posted August 11, 2013 That's just an example of a resume with no experience I could help you edit it to your need and skills. What type of job are you looking for? Have you thought about starting at a restaurant or a grocery store? Those places really don't require any experience. 1 jenniv158 reacted to this
roadrunner11 167 Posted August 11, 2013 Gino don't lose hope. I also had a hard time finding a job in my field. I would suggest applying for entry level positions at businesses or companies where you eventually want to work in finance? Then once you are hired there work your way up. Keep applying and when you go to interviews always sound passionate about the position and let them know you want to grow in the company using your skills. Good companies like people who want to work their way up. 2 engineer2mike and pswa83 reacted to this

stolenlacs 37 Posted August 18, 2013 So I have more than a year in experience at customer service (front desk agent), but it's from 3 years ago. It's been hard finding a job now because i think all of my experience is being overlooked since it's been so long since I've been employed. Does anyone know where I can get tutorials on excel, powerpoint? I think I need to get a refresher I'm not looking on the beginner part of the software, I'm familiar with the programs but wanted to re-study the more complex tasks that can be done. I'd be down to help you build a resume. In this resume you would have to explain why there's a gap in your work history and that would help you look more "qualified" also I found this links for you on advanced tutorials http://presentationsoft.about.com/od/powerpointadvanced/a/advanced_hub.htm http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/advancedexcel/Advanced_Topics_in_Excel_Spreadsheets.htm Hope it helps 1 stolenlacs reacted to this

dreamer101 6 Posted August 28, 2013 You should walk in in a bank, and ask if they are needing someone!, I did just that, I wasn't really interested in the job, but just was curious, and they were really friendly about giving me info!.
EmileiDers 0 Posted October 13, 2019 Ive been looking for a job, but am having some serious issues finding one. Im pretty much up for anything. Ive done tech support for internet in a call center, worked in ware house with shipping and receiving of computer parts, built my own computers and installed software. I know a bit more than the basics of vehicles. Id really like to do something working in a garage with entry level work to learn more, part time or full time. Driving distance doesnt really matter to me nor does pay. If anyone could be of any help Id really appreciate it
