Allow Myself To Introduce.. Myself

Recommended Posts

Hey,

You all may have seen me post around a few times here n' there but I never really introduced myself. My SN is 'cheated' but you can call me James if you see me in real life. I was aware of these forums a while back but never thought about signing up at the time.

I came here about 20 years ago and I'm 28 now. I wasn't even aware that the concept of immigration reform was being discussed in the government until like 3 years ago, but since nothing has come of it ever since, I've always treated it as if it were a myth. I guess it better helped me cope with the aspect of being undocumented. I did come here legally however, through some of the lackluster/biased rules this country had and incompetent lawyers, I ended up being the only person in my family unable to obtain a valid ID.

I still consider myself lucky and thankful to not sticking out like a sore thumb for ICE to come grab me and send me back, deeming all the time I spent here in my young life to amount to nothing. When the DACA came into fruition as of June, I was hesitant at first to apply because I had a job at the time and figured things would be messy. After my ID had expired and I was unable to renew it, I figured I'd better go through this way. My pending I-130s filed by my father who IS a citizen and another one filed by my mother who is a permanent resident have still not been answered. I need to start working again to take care of them and myself because they can't support me like this for long.

So anyway, here I am, my stats are below. It's been a roller coaster of an emotional ride throughout everything. I didn't think there were many people who went through specifically what I did until I came here and read some of your stories. Some of you have even waited longer! I know what it felt like and although I'm not a lawyer, I felt I would sign up and offer any support and advice I could. Also to help cheer you up, you may see me post funny things from time to time.

I have been frustrated as well as you have, but I encourage you to use what little strength and motivation you have left and stay focused toward the positive. It's easier said than done, but your strength and determination through mind, body and spirit will get you through these negative times. Its a unique step in our maturation and I hope we have learned to appreciate the finer things in life.

I hear you James...Have you got any updates about your case? When you filed did you use an attorney or do it by yourself? I only ask because I got denied and I can help you not get denied with information that I have. Me, I would have to reapply I'm no threat to this country nor society. The person who handled my case must of thought I didn't prove enough but even my attorney said it was good enough. Out of 15 check boxes I got only 1 so hopefully I can figure out what needs to be done and get approved once and for all. sign up for email and text updates so when you get a notice you can check your case online.

Thank you. I am supposed to hear something from them in a little over a week from now and I'll let you know. I filed for the DACA by myself but used lawyers to file for my other cases in the past. I could care less about those cases now really because I just want to be able to work, generate money and afford a visa to live in another country later on.

I remember you posting about it in the other thread. I looked at everything and I really do think you showed enough proof with that affidavit. Were you able to speak with an immigration officer over the phone regarding it?

No not yet, I called uscis and the lady told me to go talk to the local office nearby. The reason i was denied was because I have not established that I have continuously resided in the US since june 15, 2007, until the date of filing your request. Which I proved 4/5 years except for 2012. Since I got only 1 check mark I am going to file it myself but making sure for a fact that I will get approved this time. In the DACA guidelines they showed that you can use your social security card to show proof of presence on june 15, 2012 and also proof I have been residing here since june 15, 2007. What kind of documents did you use for that specifically?

local office? as in local uscis office?

you'll need an infopass set up for that but i'm a bit skeptical because look what it says for information regarding DACA on this page: http://infopass.uscis.gov/ . it still doesn't hurt to try though..

the people that first pick up the phone aren't actual officers.. they're just people working at a call center that read off a screen. There are some circumstances however, that they transfer your case to an actual officer over the phone. when next i speak to them, i'll try to find something out.

i don't remember using my social security card as proof i was here in 2012. maybe i did but i know i actually used my lease agreement that had my name on it because it showed that i physically signed and dated something official that year.
