Ss Number Changing Drama At Work

Anyone here have a hard time changing your SS number at work? I was up front with my supervisor and now I feel like they're looking at me like I did it on purpose to set them up,I'm just wondering if anyone else has had to put up with this bullshit.

It's going a little rough, I can feel tension from the supervisor but the good thing is I can finally apply for another job and not be afraid (I know I'm not alone on that)

I would have probably just made up a story of how you had to change your SSN because of identity theft. Would have probably made things much easier lol.

all i tell my manager is the I need it to update my I-9 cuz I need it to change my social and she ask me if she can ask why and I said no but i tell her that it was a very confidential matter that's all

I will just look for another job since im not using my real name at my work!! and I don't want to get in trouble or accuse of identity theft plus I hate my job

Most of the time, they shouldn't even ask for a reason. If they do, you always just say it is an immigration matter and its confidential to you. There isn't a major reason to lie, but if it comes down to it, you could always say you changed your SSN because you felt insecure with your current SSN. Also reminding your employer that you are allowed to change your SSN up to 3 times in your lifetime. So what you are doing is not illegal or against the law.

You don't need to tell your supervisor, if you are unconfortable, you can talk to someone in the HS department and they will do it...no questions asked!
