I was up front with my supervisor and now I feel like they're looking at me like I did it on purpose to set them up,I'm just wondering if anyone else has had to put up with this bullshit. 66354dream 9 Posted August 8, 2013 It's going a little rough, I can feel tension from the supervisor but the good thing is I can finally apply for another job and not be afraid (I know I'm not alone on that)
JoseG 383 Posted August 8, 2013 I would have probably just made up a story of how you had to change your SSN because of identity theft. Would have probably made things much easier lol. 2 engineer2mike and Dreamer3oh3 reacted to this

Most of the time, they shouldn't even ask for a reason. If they do, you always just say it is an immigration matter and its confidential to you. There isn't a major reason to lie, but if it comes down to it, you could always say you changed your SSN because you felt insecure with your current SSN. Also reminding your employer that you are allowed to change your SSN up to 3 times in your lifetime. So what you are doing is not illegal or against the law. 66354dream 9 Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks the more I think about it the more I wish I would have gone that route.
Gezinha 121 Posted August 13, 2013 You don't need to tell your supervisor, if you are unconfortable, you can talk to someone in the HS department and they will do it...no questions asked!
