punnysang 8 Posted December 24, 2012 When I went to the SS office on 12/20 (I had received the EAD card in the mail on the 19th), the lady who was working there told me that my EAD issue date was only on 12/13 and she can't file until 15 days have passed after the EAD was issued. I didn't see anyone mentioning this on the forum.. She asked me if it was my first time getting a work permit and I answered yes and she kept telling me that she has to wait to file until 15 days have past. I asked her that I've never heard or read that kind of information on the process of applying for a SSN but she was rude and got irritated with me saying that I wasn't listening to anything she had said.... :/ has anyone faced this kind of issue at the office? She took in my SSN application form but it won't be processed until th 26th or 27th.. I showed her my new passport and an old passport with my I-94, as the form of identification. pswa83 302 Posted December 24, 2012 when people were first starting to be approved, there were some that were told to wait 10 days from the issue date on their EAD. when i applied for mine, i did not wait the 10 days and did not have a problem applying for my SSN. the lady who helped me, took my EAD and passport, asked me some questions and I was done. JoseG 383 Posted December 25, 2012 Went to apply on Friday. Dude there that helped me out was cool. He was Hispanic. I gave him the application, he asked for my EAD and then I handed him my Birth Certificate along with it. There were no problems, everything went smooth. He was telling me how this homeless lady had gone in earlier and started saying racist stuff to him lol. He gave me a receipt saying I had applied for an SSN and that the card should arrive within 2 weeks. What sucks is that I can't find the number to the Social Security office to go for a printout. I got that same letter saying i applied and id get it in two weeks, but the lady said it usually only takes 5- 10 business days to arrive. i dont have a hob yet, so ill just wait patiently. mlmdo 1 Posted January 4, 2013 Cool post. Thanks, regarding the foreign birth certificate, do they mean the original birth certificate or the translated certified copy we have? Ill be bringing both in just in case and as soon as I get my work permit Ill be applying for a TX ID, just to make any type of paperwork go by easier... That might happen with some minors that didn't give a good explanation of why they need an EAD on their I-765WS. so after you get your DACA approved and mailed letter what's next? do you have to get another set of biometrics? JayhOR24 58 Posted January 4, 2013 so after you get your DACA approved and mailed letter what's next? do you have to get another set of biometrics? No, after you get approved and have gotten the letter with your Work permit you go to a social security office and apply for your social security!

HectorM6 0 Posted February 2, 2013 Hey guys, I just got my Work Permit in the mai. Can I go to a Social Security Office and fill out an application there? What do I need in order to get an SSN?
Lebam 3 Posted February 6, 2013 I just used my birth certificate and my EAD card. That is weird that some office are being so different than others. The one I went to they told me I couldn't use my passport as a form of id and that you always need your birth certificate when I applying for a SSN for the first time and I went the next day after receiving my EAD card and they said nothing about a waiting period. chris_oswaldo 6 Posted March 2, 2013 You can fill out the application at home and print it, or fill it in at the SSA office. http://www.socialsec...online/ss-5.pdf http://www.ssa.gov/p...rred_action.pdf Do we put "Legal Alien Allowed To Work" in part 5? Also, it says: "NOTE: If you are age 12 or older and have never received a Social Security number, you must apply in person." I have never received a Social Security, just like many other DREAMers, so do we all have to go in person? Also, my full name is "Christyan Oswaldo Godinez Villalobos" So does that mean that on BOX 1 I put: First: Christyan ; MIddle: Oswaldo ; Last: Godinez Villalobos? Or Godinez-Villalobos? 2 Osha and Yureelee reacted to this
JoseG 383 Posted March 2, 2013 Yes, Legal alien allowed to work. Write your name as two separate last names, Godinez Villalobos. 2 chris_oswaldo and Yureelee reacted to this
edxxx 9 Posted March 9, 2013 I went today and they asked for both my birth certificate and passport....I had to come back later since I didn't take my birth certificate the first time. I got a different person and they still asked for both. Another thing, what did everyone say when they ask if you had used another social before? I said yes but only for work....that was the first time I went before they sent me to get my birth certificate, the second person didn't ask that.

The social security number that you've used before was it legally issued to you or was it fake? You only put social security numbers that was LEGALLY issued to you by the SSA. If you've used a fake social security number before don't mention it, don't write it down, don't even think about it. Forget all the fake stuff you've used before. Its time to start fresh... 2 engineer2mike and reyd reacted to this
TBR2012 12 Posted March 9, 2013 ok, so im waiting for my approval like many of you once did or still are, ...I have a social Security #, given to me when my dad passed away, i was given this ss# since i was a minor and quelified for ss benefits.
