Hi, I was wondering if receiving financial aid for school will be a negative thing once I try to renew my application for DACA. I've heard that asking for financial aid is a no no.

That is absurd! I have been hearing such crazy things about "if i do this, someone told me they won't renew it...". That is crazy, it hasn't got anything to do with anything. You can ask for it, I live in MA and I was denied because you must have a green card to get it here apparently, but if you can get it, go for it. They would never deny renewal because of that.

Gezinha thanks for response. Yeah I've heard a lot of crazy things. I was denied financial aid from one school because like you said; they require a green card. But I am still looking at other schools and hopefully they can help me with financial aid.

In which state do you live ? perhaps the state that you live might have some sort of tuition aid...

Try private schools. Yes, their tuition is more expensive BUT they do not depend on state aid for their own scholarships. You might find that they have really good ones and cover more than what financial aid would. I went to a private school a few years back and I paid about 7k a year overall. That was way cheaper than going to a state school and not getting any aid.

Financial Aid here in Washington is available and it wont harm you. I'm not sure in other states as they might as well have diferent laws for students.
