Gmz 0 Posted July 18, 2014 I recently applied for a job with the county a few days ago I was asked to provide a copy of my w2's to proof my work history. I provided my w-2's and explained my situation to the lady conducting the check she stated it shouldn't be a problem but I'm still worried. Could I get in trouble for having used a fake ssn
holdingon2promise 25 Posted July 18, 2014 I would have never used that past work history because a fake ssn i believe is a federal crime....
Gmz 0 Posted July 18, 2014 Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I hope I didn't screw myself over. I guess all I could do is wait now.
Theresa 63 Posted July 19, 2014 Have you been approved for DACA? I think you'll be fine.
Gmz 0 Posted July 19, 2014 Yea I was approved and got my new ssn and work permit last year. I may be over thinking its just such a good job and I would hate miss out on it over something so trivial
Theresa 63 Posted July 19, 2014 It'll be ok unless their requirement is citizenship for this job. Good Luck...
holdingon2promise 25 Posted July 19, 2014 Look just don't do it again, you were giving a change don't use anything that would take that chance away. Good luck.

Theresa 63 Posted July 19, 2014 Lori Krogel, managing director of recruiting company the Mergis Group, says, "It is a common practice that companies do verify past salary. Normally, it is done during background checks," performed by a contracted third party group. "On rare occasions, we have had the client ask for the candidate to verify thru a W-2." She says employers should, at a minimum, ask applicants to delete their Social Security numbers on a W-2 or tax return, she says. Good luck GMZ
Gmz 0 Posted July 20, 2014 You've been so helpful I really appreciate all the info I'll definitely know how to handle the situation if it comes up again. My biggest concern was if the emoloyer after seeing the different ssn number would report it or cause me legal troubles
