Cochoz 48 Posted October 4, 2012 I have been in the United States for 13 years now. There is nothing else that I detest than to see someone who has the opportunity to be something and make someone out of themselves but take no action. As an immigrant, people don't understand how limited we are to goals, dreams or life itself. Being an immigrant has pushed me back multiple years from my 'to do list' or my 'what will I be in 5 to 10 years from now'. Being approve and given the chance to work legally or drive safely without having to look behind my shoulder periodically, would be one of the best things that could happen to anyone in our situation. So many paths will be open to us and I feel as if I can't waste anytime. I want to proof to those that have seen me as a failure because they have no idea of my situation that given the chance, I can be the best person I can be. I want to show my family that I want to better myself and live a better life than the one provided not just for myself, but for them as well. There are so many things I have been wanting to do for so long, that it infuriates me to not be able to keep moving forward with goals, dreams, life itself. Don't take opportunities for granted and take full advantage of them. We never know when another chance will come along. Don't be that person who will be asking themselves "what if" just do it. Let's show together that United States needs us as much as we need them. 7 NilviaRR, taramo35, itzel and 4 others reacted to this
pswa83 302 Posted October 5, 2012 i wholeheartedly agree with you, Cochoz. when i was younger, i know that i was totally jealous of those around me and the fact that they were able to do what ever they want, when they wanted to. even my sister and brother (both younger). but as i got older, i realized that those who do have the option of doing what they please, do not know any different. they dont know what it is like to not be able to drive, or work or do anything else that you want to do. all we can do from this point on is, live the life that we want to live and be the productive people that our families and people in our corner want us to be. NO MORE and for sure NO LESS 2 linda2305 and Rh_ny reacted to this
lucky_chick100 9 Posted October 9, 2012 i completely agree with you guys. It would be really embarazing at times when friends were getting their driving permits && ids or even nowadays when we try to go clubbing some places only let you in if you have a "valid id" its BS if you ask me. Like the saying goes you never know what you have til you loose it, for us we know the value a real SSN has but those who've had it and dont appreciate or take advantage makes me kinda aggravated at times. WE on the other hand will put it to good use && make something greater of ourselfs!!! ONE STEP CLOSER, KEEP MOVING FORWARD
JamRock 22 Posted October 18, 2012 So true. A lot of young people are allowing in fear to hold them back. but they don't realize that it is faith that got us this far, and the persistence of so many people who are advocating on our behalf is why we're here today. I used to be so jealous of my bro and friends because they were born with a gold spoon in their mouths but now i and many like me have a chance. We have homework 4 times as hard, dare to dream and make that dream our reality. Be leaders but follow the right path, strive for excellent and nothing less. 3 Gino10, roadrunner11 and NilviaRR reacted to this

NilviaRR 53 Posted November 8, 2012 Ohh this is soooo true!! I have friends, relatives, former boyfriends, etc. that were born here and have soooooo many opportunities and take them all for granted!! My brother (citizen) does horrible in school, failed driver's ed, doesn't have a job, and I don't know why why whyy it must be that my sister and I (dreamers) have busted our butts our whole lives to get to where we are, we're paying almost full price for college, can't drive, etc, whereas others just don't see that they are soooo blessed!! Pero pues nimodo!! Lo unico que podemos hacer es esperar y algun dia Dios nos dara lo que tanto hemos esperado!! Best of luck to everyone.. we'll get there!! 1 mayra reacted to this
