FutureofUS 0 Posted December 10, 2016 Hello my fellow DREAMERS, I want to start off by sincerely apologizing to everyone out there for making a dumb mistake when I was granted such a blessing with the DACA program. I don't think you want to hear my story of how I got charged with the DWI, so I will say this. My criminal defense lawyer has told me that it will be difficult to have the case dismissed, and I will probably have to do probation. I think this means that I will be convicted of a DWI on my record? Can I still be eligible for the renewal? I was granted DACA first in 8/22/13 and renewed it on 7/21/15 and it is set to expire in 7/20/17. This will be my second renewal, but this time I will most likely have a DWI conviction on my record. I am graduating next week with my master's in accounting and will be sitting for the CPA exam in January. I have a full offer lined up for me in July 2017 at a big 4 accounting firm. I really need this DACA renewal... I had my life set until I made a stupid mistake of driving while intoxicated... Please help me. I am scared of applying and being denied then having the possibility of being deported.
alex007 1 Posted January 27, 2017 Hi FutureofUS Sorry to hear your situation, is very similar to mine. I was granted DACA in 2013 and got convicted of a Misdemeanor DUI in January 2015 and i couldn't renew. I am graduating with my Bachelors degree in may. Also i just got my DUI expunge two weeks ago, i hire an attorney for the process because i still had another year on probation from the dui in jan 2015 and he was able to get my probation terminated and the expungement granted. I am getting ready to file my renewal for DACA. Today i had a appointment with a immigration lawyer to review my case. She stated that she had other cases similar to my case and she was able to get them approved. I know that every case is on a case by case, i am hoping to get approved ill keep you updated on my process and hopefully i don't get denied.
Skyking89 0 Posted April 15, 2017 I would say it would be very very difficult since DUI's are one of the things listed that will get you denied DACA and possibly get your information related to ICE for removal. ICE is currently removing people with DUI's and a recent DACA that got a DUI last year and convicted got his DACA taken away and put up for removal.
