How long after Biometrics to get approved?

Recommended Posts

My biometrics was 10/04 and my status is still stuck at initial review... I've been really stressed out about the outcome of this.. I applied from Los Angeles. Do you think it has to do with a lot of people applying from LA county? My attorney reassured me as well that it must be taking longer than other places because it's Los Angeles. Is this necessarily true? Your input would be much appreciated! Please reply away :)

Also I had nothing sketchy about application. I graduated from a four year college in Dec 2010 and have no suspicious activities.

I'm in the same boat except I applied in October. From what I have seen in some stats California is one of the states with the most Daca applicants. So it is just taking a little more time to get approvals out. Patience is a virtue many of us don't have, especially with this. Good luck!

Unfortunately, this isn't true.

You don't qualify for a work permit (EAD, I-765) without first being approved for Deferred Action (I-821D) The 90 day processing time for the I-765 doesn't apply to us because our I-765 application is based on our I-821D application, and since the I-821D application has a 4-6 month processing time, the 90 day processing time for the I-765 does not start until after you are granted Deferred Action, therefore, you are also not eligible for a provisional work permit in the mean time.

If you were to be approved for the I-821D and 90 days pass by and you don't hear anything on your I-765, then you can call in and request a Service Request or a Provisional Work Permit.

I know someone who has her work permit and her I-821D its not aproved yet!!! she called and they told her she got her permit so she can work but it will take 3 to 6 months to aproved her I-821D! so what Selene21 it is TRUE!!! IN SOME CASES you can get the work permit even thought they havent aproved your I-821D :) by they way she never got her 2 letter of approval on the mail she only got her work permit! :)

Did she submit a Service Request after 90 days?

Hello everyone and congrats for those who have been approved.

I'm afraid I've grown worried for my case.

You see I sent my i821d and i765 application on Aug. 15 and I received a text and email saying they received my forms Aug. 17

Then I received my biometric appointment which was for Sept. 20 which I attended, but the complicated part about all this is that my wedding day was the day after my biometrics. So as I was doing my biometrics I asked the immigration officer there if I should send my marriage certificate out to my lock box (which was Nebraska) and she said just mail it out as soon as you get it while your forms are still being processed. But as you can see it has been over 2 months of waiting and my case status is still posting "initial review" would anyone know why this is?

I applied on Sept 26 in Vermont and I'm still waiting! Chin up!

Thanks! They should have a better system to where more people who applied sooner get approvals accordingly! It's so out of whack, everyone's timeline I mean.

Oh absolutely. I have a feeling that we're just sitting in a pile on someone's desk waiting since they've received the floods of people applying after the election. Hopefully once they start moving this traffic jam, we'll be the first one's notified.

Fingers crossed and minds occupied!!

Hello, did any of you get a receipt after having your biometrics taken?

The agent will stamp, date and sign your original biometrics appointment notice that you received in the mail. Did you get a second receipt? After they make a decision on your case you will receive the notice about it. It is not an immidiate response as it usually takes weeks to receive it.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks, I had my appointment notice stamped and I took it with me. I was curious if anyone got a receipt besides getting the appointment notice stamped.

Hi everyone!

I'm worrying about my deferred act case because I went to my Biometrics on Sep 28, here in the Dallas TX, and have not get any response yet. I checked the status of my case in the website and is under the initial review circle? Is anybody experiencing this?

For those people that the process already got accepted, what did your case status was in the website after the Biometrics?

Hope you all can help me with this because I am freaking out! :(

Hello my case has been received by the USCIS on August 21 prolly one of the first people who sent in along with my brother. Now I've only got my biometrics done and since then both my cases been i initial review. Where my brother already got approved on both, got his work card been to social security office since and got ss card as well so I'm really bummed out but each case is done by some one else even tho we filed same day my case number were about 470 numbers from his. I don't know if this helps anyone but I'm just posting to show support even tho I need it prolly the most.

Hello everyone I submitted my applications on September 18, 2012. USCIS received my papers on Sep 20, 2012 and I got the letter to for my biometrics appointment which was on October 17. Since then I haven't received a notice from them my status says its still under "initial review" Im concern about my documents because the 90 day period has passed since I submitted my papers and still no notice from USCIS. My question is what should I do in my case

Do I call costumer service? or wait until I receive a notice from them?

Thanks

Im in the same boat. I applied last september and my 90 day mark already passed so i called them this week. They said my application was still under the 4 to 6 months limit that they have to approve or reject it. In other words, i should wait one more month before calling them back. It sucks but there's nothing that we can do but to keep waiting....

That's exactly what they told me. Today is 100 days since I sent my application, we just got to stay positive and hopefully January is the month we receive our papers.

I even tried both in English and Spanish trying to see if they'll give me a different response but nothing, both operators sounded like robots..! They either read from a script or they memorized what they have to say word by word...well my experiment fail ha ha ha and i still have to wait one more month. BTW my 90-day mark was on the 19th y aun sigo con mis dedos cruzados

i thought the 4 - 6 month wait time started after your biometrics not when you first submitted your application

It starts after biometrics submitted, and ONLY working days count, some people have been counting them wrong and think they passed their 90 day mark, so if you did your bios on late september, your 90 day mark should be around late january, for example, mine is on February 15 till I reach 90 working days since biometrics submitted.
