REPutation 83 Posted November 7, 2012 So Obama won tonight! That is good news to not only Democrats but to us who are part of the Deferred action, who also would likely support Obama.. I heard one of my peers say something along these lines. "N*gg* is excited [that Obama won] so he won't have to get deported" And we all cracked up!!! Do you believe now that Obama will pass the DReam Act? In addition, 65% of Americans have voted that illigal immgrants should attain status. What is your opinion? Thoughts? JoseG 383 Posted November 7, 2012 I have been listening to different news stations throughout the day, and at the end when Obama was announced the winner, a lot of people were bringing up the subject of Immigration and Latino/Hispanic voters. What was said was that Republicans need to get together with the Democrats on the subject of Immigration. 71% of the Latino votes went to President Obama. I believe Republicans might look at this as a wake up call telling them that they can no longer put Latinos and Hispanics aside and that they need to change their position on Immigration. I believe that there is a good possibility for passage of the Dream Act/CIR. It will just come down to when Obama will bring it up and work with Republicans to get their votes because I believe Republicans will be more lenient about this subject. 2 Jason and King reacted to this
Gezinha 121 Posted November 15, 2012 I hope he has something better than the Dream Act. It is not fair for the DA to pass and forget about the millions of other older people who did not get a chance to go to school, they deserve a chance to go ahead in this country as well. But if only the DA passes, that is better than nothing.
itzel 336 Posted November 15, 2012 I agree with Gezinha. Dont get me wrong, Im super happy for all of us that applied for DACA and were approved and those that are about to be approved but I cant help and be sad for some of our parents who havent obtained status. My mom is one of them..Id like her to enjoy the benefits I am, getting a job, going back to school, an ID, etc... Plus apart from a comprehensive immigration plan for all those that didnt qualify for DACA, Id be SUPER happy if we got the DREAM Act, so instead of renewing our work permit every 2 years and paying $380, we get a way to be citizens.. Ive also been following the news and my local newspaper and here in TX, republican will lose Texas if they dont support legislation towards immigration reform... I think this second re election for Obama shows that we support him and would all like to be recognized...I hope he does keep his promise and help all of us
