GONZO 0 Posted December 4, 2012 It seems to me that there's a pattern, personal observation, the average wait time from when you send your application to your bio metrics appointment is roughly a month, from your appointment till being approved its roughly another month. My question is, for those who attempted a walk in and succeeded and are now accepted did the walk in speed up your process or do you think they just file it away and send it according to appointment. Say your appointment is 12/12 but you go 12/6 do they send it as people get bio metrics done or by scheduled time, in this case they would just hold it for 6 days and send it on the day your appointment was? I know it is case by case review blah blah blah maybe it isn't a factor, but experiences from some of you are helpful. Because I don't really have a excuse like "i wont be in town" or anything but I'm anxious and just want to go because I feel it would speed it up hahah THANKS! JoseG 383 Posted December 4, 2012 Yes, it does, sometimes. I have seen a few people that walked in get approved before their actual appointment date. 1 Jason reacted to this
GONZO 0 Posted December 4, 2012 I thought I saw something like that on someones timeline, but I did see someone talking about it actually slows you down.... I don't think so but ehhh from what I've seen walk ins hasn't hurt anyone's case. I will be attempting a walk in on Friday at the El Monte center, any tips or good excuses I could use to get away with it? My appointment is 12/17.
JoseG 383 Posted December 4, 2012 Hmmm... Maybe you could tell them you aren't sure if you will have a ride on the date of your appointment date.
roadrunner11 167 Posted December 4, 2012 Yes, it does, sometimes. I have seen a few people that walked in get approved before their actual appointment date. This is very interesting. I also think it depends on the service center you are assigned too. It could be faster for those assigned to more efficient service centers and others aren't as lucky and seem to be waiting as long as the rest of the dreamers. Either way, I am sure all dreamers who meet the requirements and have enough proof will be approved eventually. 1 Rh_ny reacted to this
Rh_ny 56 Posted December 4, 2012 My sister did her bios 4 days before her scheduled appointment (09/20 appointment....09/17 walked in) and she is still waiting for an answer! I don't think it helps or depends on the service center it goes to !
Rawf 336 Posted December 5, 2012 I'm pretty sure they can take you in, but the case isn't reviewed until the date of the appointment. Might be wrong thought.
Imski 9 Posted December 5, 2012 i did a walk in today and it was successful! my appointment was for december 21st but i went in today on december 4th.
EnJR 39 Posted December 5, 2012 Personally, I don't think it helps. I did a walk in on oct. 5th and I'm still waiting, some people who did their bios on their appt date are approved already but some others who did a walk in have also been approved. Like some other people have said, it might depend on the service center and/or their way of reviewing the case.
Fabio978 34 Posted December 5, 2012 Has anyone debated that the people who are being approved in a timely manner are immigrants who overstayed in a visitor's visa? It seems like those who came by the Mexico/U.S. border are taking longer than those who overstayed (Could be horribly wrong).
JoseG 383 Posted December 5, 2012 My sister and I are VISA overstays and we are still waiting for a decision. 2 Jason and pswa83 reacted to this

Has anyone debated that the people who are being approved in a timely manner are immigrants who overstayed in a visitor's visa? It seems like those who came by the Mexico/U.S. border are taking longer than those who overstayed (Could be horribly wrong). i dont think that is true. i came to the US illegally (mother walked over the border back in the 80s) and i was approved a week after my bio. i've heard that common last names maybe a factor in the slow process. i mean, i believe the majority of applicants, not all, are from hispanic/latino backgrounds. i also think that we can chit chat about what may or may not be holding up the process but unless we're USCIS, then we'll never really know why there are delays and computer errors, etc.... Fabio978 34 Posted December 5, 2012 As it stands the majority are of Mexican descent. I do not understand what you mean by "common last names". Care to shed some light?
pswa83 302 Posted December 5, 2012 common last names such as garcia, gonzales, lopez, flores, ramirez, etc
Fabio978 34 Posted December 5, 2012 No that I understand- I was asking why would they be any trouble? I hope "Machado" doesn't stir any problems since there are fewer than 5,000 reported Brazilians who applied.
pswa83 302 Posted December 5, 2012 just that common last names tend to create mix ups, especially within the immigration system. i mean other then my sister, i dont know anyone personally that has my last name
Fabio978 34 Posted December 5, 2012 O. Same here. I just pray that even if it comes really late- it's not bad news. I have waited for 8 years. Months won't matter as much.

GONZO 0 Posted December 8, 2012 walk in was successful today, 10 days ahead of scheduled time showed up at around 2 pm. The guy was real chill he just asked why was i there today told him im just trying to get it done with asap. walked in and there was 7 numbers ahead of me. the lady taking my biometrics was real cool too told me "you'll be receiving your EAD in the mail soon" hahah hell yea! from here out I wait. hopefully within a month im approved. Also walk in prepared!!! it seemed like he wasnt going to let me in and was trying to find an excuse not to let me in but i had left everything in the car except for the notice and ID so getting through security was a breeze. lastly the lady doing my fingerprints also scared the shit out of me saying stuff like "we got you know if you ever do anything stupid we have your fingerprints!"
